Sono Teak Living Room Sideboard — Solid Teak, Hand-Carved Panels, Brass Handles

- Sono is where antique-inspired craftsmanship meets a modern line. Hand-carved panels give the doors their detail, and cast brass handles finish them — storage that’s worth looking at, not just living with.

Behind the panels there’s room for the things a dining or living room needs to tuck away, across a run of doors and drawers. It’s made from solid teak in a light brown tint, sealed with a water-based varnish that protects the wood while keeping its warmth.

It comes in two sizes so it suits a shorter wall or a longer one. Because each piece is hand-finished, the carving and grain vary slightly from one to the next; that variation is part of how it’s made, not a flaw. For indoor use.

How to Care for Your Sono Sideboard

Varnished wooden items are finished with a protective coating. This finish gives the piece its colour and protects against stains — but even with that treatment, spills should be removed immediately.

Regular care

  • For regular dusting, use a dry cloth.
  • For cleaning or a spill, use a damp cloth and natural soap, wiping in the direction of the grain. Don’t use soap containing detergent or other chemicals.
  • Dry with a soft, clean cloth to prevent spotting.
  • We always recommend protecting surfaces with coasters, mousepads or placemats — extreme or repetitive daily use, and heat, can damage the finish.
  • Move objects such as vases and flowerpots from time to time, and wipe away any excess water or dampness straight away to prevent marking.

General tips

  • Keep room humidity between 40% and 60%.
  • To prevent colour differences, keep the piece out of direct sunlight and move objects on top of it from time to time.
  • Avoid extreme conditions — don’t place it next to heating sources or in air-conditioned spaces.
  • Remove any spills immediately, and always clean in the direction of the wood grain.
  • Use placemats and coasters so hot or cold items don’t leave marks.
  • Never drag the furniture — always lift it when moving it.
  • Keep floor-cleaning solutions away from the base, as they can leave permanent marks.
  • This is an indoor product and isn’t intended for outdoor use.
  • Always read the care instructions specific to your item.

Sono Sideboard - Frequently Asked Questions

What’s the difference between the 172cm and 228cm?

They share the same depth (48cm), height (87cm), finish and drawers — three on each. The 228cm is the larger piece: a wider body with three doors (versus two on the 172cm), two adjustable shelves (versus one), and taller internal compartments, so there’s more room behind the doors. Choose the 172cm for a shorter wall, the 228cm where you’ve the space and want the extra storage.

Are the doors and drawers soft-close?

The doors are soft-close. The drawers run on single-extension runners and are not soft-close.

What’s it made from, and how do I look after it?

Solid teak (Tectona grandis), sealed with a PFAS-free water-based varnish in a light brown tone. Care for it as you would any varnished wood — wipe spills promptly, avoid abrasive or acidic cleaners, and see the varnished wood care guide linked above.

Is it solid teak, or a veneer?

It’s solid teak throughout — the panels and doors are made from solid teak, joined using finger-jointed and laminated solid-wood construction rather than single wide planks. That’s standard for a piece this size and keeps it stable; it’s genuine solid wood, not a veneer over board.

What sizes does it come in?

Two: 172cm and 228cm wide, both 48cm deep and 87cm high.

Will mine look exactly like the photo?

The panels are hand-carved and the teak is hand-finished, so the carving detail and grain vary slightly piece to piece — Ethnicraft considers that a sign each one is its own.

Does it need fixing to the wall?

It comes with anti-tipping hardware (and pre-drilled holes), which we’d always recommend fitting — especially in a home with children — so the piece can’t tip if a drawer or door is pulled on. No other assembly is needed; it arrives ready to use.

Can I see it in person in Ireland?

The Sono is part of our online-exclusive range, so it isn’t on display in the showroom. If you’re unsure whether it’s the right fit, feel free to get in touch or book a free consultation — we’re happy to help you decide before you order.

How long will I be waiting?

The Sono is made to order by Ethnicraft and takes approximately 4–6 weeks. Delivery and lead times are estimates, so if anything looks like it will take longer than expected, we’ll be in touch.

    What happens after I order?

Our customer service team places your order with Ethnicraft. When it arrives at our warehouse, we’ll email you — and if you paid a deposit, that email includes your remaining balance. Full payment is needed before delivery can be booked.

    How is delivery arranged?

Free delivery is included across the Republic of Ireland on orders over €399, into your room. It arrives fully assembled, so there’s nothing to build. Once your order is in and paid, our logistics team contacts you directly to arrange a date and time — they plan all the delivery routes, so they’re the only team who can confirm timings. All furniture is delivered to the ground floor. It’s a heavy piece (around 108kg), so tight access or stairs? Let them know — tell us about any steps, narrow doorways or tight corners and measure beforehand, as a redelivery charge may apply if access isn’t flagged and delivery can’t be completed safely.

What if my plans change for delivery?

Things happen like inconveniences. If your plans change, let us know as early as you can, quoting your order number.

    Can I pay a deposit?

Yes — feel free to pay in full, or start your order with a 50% deposit and pay the balance before delivery.

Can I cancel or return it?

For online and phone orders, you have 14 days from receiving your goods to cancel without giving a reason — items must be unused, unassembled and in their original packaging, and you cover the return cost. For in-store orders, let us know within 14 days if you change your mind; items must be unused and undamaged with your original receipt, and we’ll issue a credit note for the value.

Sometimes things are out of our control. Please check your order as soon as it’s delivered to make sure there’s no damage — check everything before signing, report any damage to the delivery team and note it on the form, then email photos to customercare@iystulvorxamqe.pro within 48 hours. We’ll take it from there.
